UVA and UVB: The Invisibles
UVB rays strike the skin. These are the ones that burn, redden, and injure.
More discreet, UVA rays penetrate deeper. They don't sting, but they leave their mark—wrinkles, spots, loss of firmness.
According to the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES), UVA rays account for 95% of the ultraviolet radiation received by Earth, and are present all year round, even through clouds or windows.
Their action is cumulative: every minute spent in the sun adds to the previous ones, slowly etching the memory of light onto the skin.
UPF: Clothing as a Sun Filter
UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) measures a fabric's resistance to UV rays.
A UPF 5 allows one in five rays to pass through.
A UPF 50+, on the other hand, only allows one in fifty to pass.
That's 98% of rays blocked, tested in a laboratory according to standard EN 13758-1.
But beyond the numbers, it's a philosophy:

regular, generous application, renewed every two hours.
